Made using the highest quality materials, our facemasks are breathable and light, ensuring comfort during wear. Fluid resistant and of surgical standard, our IIR designs have been created in response to the current global pandemic and are intended to bring an effective layer of protection against the Covid-19 virus.

About Surgical Masks

Health professionals use surgical masks to keep themselves safe from airborne ailments while working in areas with a high risk of transmission. These facemasks work to protect the nose and mouth from the external environment, creating a barrier that prevents any virus from entering the body through the respiratory system. While not generally considered necessary for daily use, current social distancing measures mean that a medical-grade mask represents a sensible way to reduce the risk of contracting a potentially fatal virus while shopping for essentials or performing key worker tasks.

The Composition of a Surgical Mask

The mask is not designed for long term use, but it should be comfortable whilst being worn. With two loops at either end which hook around the ears, our facemasks can be attached or removed easily as needed. The main body of the mask should be slightly loose, to allow for breathing space.

Our 3-ply masks are rectangular to ensure they do not create a seal around the nose and mouth. Whilst they have been made to keep airborne ailments out of the respiratory systems, they should not prevent you from breathing properly.

Choosing a type IIR Surgical Mask

There are many facemasks on the market at the moment, but it is widely documented that not all are fit-for-purpose. Whilst a standard mask might look nice, it is thought that it would be generally useless when faced with a disease such as Covid-19. When choosing a mask, look for one that is Type IIR, as this means it includes a fluid resistant layer, which offers an increased protection against illness.
Both masks, however, do work to stop you from touching your face so often, which is an important way of preventing transmission.

A respiratory mask offers further protection yet, with a more fitted design and tighter seal around the mouth. These are best for those working in high-risk conditions and should be graded for confidence. For most people, however, a Type IIR mask like ours is a good choice for everyday activities.
